Interior Door Installation & Repair

Illustration of a nicely installed interior door.

A door that sticks, won’t latch, or was hung out of square is one of the most common, and most overlooked carpentry fixes in a home. I hang new interior doors and repair or adjust existing ones so they open, close, and latch the way they should.

Common Questions

Why does my door stick in the summer but not the winter?

Wood doors and jambs expand with humidity β€” a door that fits fine in winter can swell and stick in summer. I'll check the door frame and see if it requires a planing adjustment or a fix to the door jamb.

Can you fix a door without replacing the whole frame?

Usually, yes β€” many sticking, dragging, or latch issues come down to adjusting hinges or the jamb itself.

Do you install pre-hung or slab doors?

Both. Pre-hung doors come with the frame attached while slab doors fit into an existing frame. I'll recommend whichever fits your situation.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Single door replacements or repairs are commonly overlooked and can often be fixed somewhat quickly. There is no reason to live with doors that won't close or stay closed.
